भस्म आरती :
कालों के काल महाकाल के यहां प्रतिदिन अलसुबह भस्म आरती होती है। इस आरती की खासियत यह है कि इसमें ताजा मुर्दे की भस्म से भगवान महाकाल का श्रृंगार किया जाता है।
ऐसी मान्यता है कि सालों पहले श्मशान के भस्म से आरती होती थी |
लेकिन आपको बता दें इसके अलावा ऐसी 8 चीज़ें होती हैं जिन्हें मिलाकर भस्म तैयार की जाती है। जिसे लगाने से महाकाल अधिक प्रसन्न होते हैं। बल्कि कहा जाता है कि इस लगाने से महाकाल स्वयं दर्शन देते हैं। तो आइए जानें आखिर किन 8 चीजों से बनी भस्म शिवजी को लगानी चाहिए।
शास्त्रों के अनुसार आगे बताई जाने वाली 8 चीज़ों को शुद्ध व पावन माना जाता है। ये हैं वो 8 चीज़े जिसे मिलाकर बनाई जाती है भस्म 1- गाय के गोबर कंडे 2- बिल्व वृक्ष की लड़की 3- शमी की लड़की 4- पीपल की लड़की 5- पलाश की लकड़ी 6- बड़ (बरगद) की लकड़ी 7- अमलता की लकड़ी 8- बेर वृक्ष की लकड़ी। मान्यताओं के मुताबिक भस्म आरती देखना महिलाओं के लिए निषेध है| इसलिए कुछ समय के लिए उन्हें घूंघट करना पड़ता है आरती के दौरान पुजारी एक वस्त्र धोती में होते हैं |इस आरती में शामिल होने के लिए पहले से बुकिंग की जाती है।
जूना महाकाल :
महाकाल के दर्शन करने के बाद जूना महाकाल के दर्शन जरूर करना चाहिए। यह महाकाल प्रांगण में ही स्थित है।
तीन महाकाल विराजमान हैं उज्जैन में : उज्जैन में साढ़े तीन काल विराजमान है- महाकाल, कालभैरव, गढ़कालिका और अर्ध काल भैरव। यदि महाकाल बाबा और जूना महाकाल बाबा के दर्शन कर लिए हैं तो यहां के दर्शन भी जरूर करें।
दोस्तों महाकालेश्वर मंदिर का रहस्य और कहानी की बात करे तो हिन्दू पुराण के मुताबिक एक बार ब्रह्मा जी और विष्णु भगवान दोनों के बीच उस बात से बहस हुई कि सृष्टि में बड़ा कौन है। उसको देखने के लिए महादेव ने तीनों लोकों में प्रकाश के अंतहीन स्तंभ को ज्योतिर्लिंग के रूप में छेदा और भगवान विष्णु और भगवान ब्रह्मा को प्रकाश के अंत का पता लगाने के लिए कहा था।
उसके लिए दोनों स्तंभ के साथ नीचे और ऊपर की ओर यात्रा करते हैं। उसमे ब्रह्मा जी झूठ बोलते कहते है की उन्हें अंत मिल गया। उसके कारन विष्णु हार मान लेते हैं। मगर शिव जी प्रकाश के स्तंभ के रूप में प्रकट होते हुए ब्रम्हा जी को श्राप देते हैं कि उसकी पूजा कोई स्थान नहीं होगी। महाकालेश्वर ज्योतिर्लिंग वह जगह है जहाँ भगवान शिव प्रकाश के रूप में प्रकट हुए थे।

ट्रेन से महाकालेश्वर उज्जैन कैसे पहुंचे –
ट्रेन से उज्जैन शहर जाने के लिए उज्जैन शहर का अपना रेलवे स्टेशन है। वह एक प्रमुख रेलवे स्टेशन है और भारत देश के सभी प्रमुख स्टेशनों से बहुत अच्छे से जुड़ा हुआ है। यह शहर में उज्जैन सिटी जंक्शन, विक्रम नगर और चिंतामन मुख्य रेलवे स्टेशन हैं। यहां कई ट्रेन नियमित चलती रहती हैं ।
सड़क मार्ग से-

Bhasma Aarti:
Bhasma Aarti is performed daily in the morning of Mahakal, the Kaal of Kaal. The specialty of this aarti is that Lord Mahakal is adorned with the ashes of fresh dead bodies.
It is believed that years ago, aarti was done from the ashes of the cremation ground.
But let us tell you that apart from this, there are 8 such things, which are mixed to prepare Bhasma. Mahakal is more pleased by applying which. Rather it is said that by applying this, Mahakal himself gives darshan. So let's know which 8 things made of Bhasma should be applied to Shiva.

These are the 8 things which are mixed together to make Bhasma 1- Cow dung cake 2- Bilva tree girl 3- Shami girl 4- Peepal girl 5- Palash wood 6- Bad (banyan) wood 7- Amalta's Wood 8- The wood of the plum tree. According to the beliefs, it is forbidden for women to see Bhasma Aarti. So for some time they have to wear veil. During the aarti the priest is in a cloth dhoti. Booking is done in advance to attend this aarti.
Juna Mahakal:
After visiting Mahakal, one should definitely visit Juna Mahakal. It is situated in the Mahakal courtyard itself.
Three Mahakals are present in Ujjain: There are three and a half times sitting in Ujjain - Mahakal, Kalabhairav, Gadhkalika and Ardha Kaal Bhairav. If you have seen Mahakal Baba and Juna Mahakal Baba, then definitely visit here too.

To see that, Mahadev pierced the endless pillar of light in the form of Jyotirlinga in the three worlds and asked Lord Vishnu and Lord Brahma to find the end of the light.
For that both travel down and up along the pillar. In it, Brahma ji lies and says that he has found the end. Because of that Vishnu accepts defeat. But Shiva, appearing as a pillar of light, curses Brahma that there will be no place to worship him. Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga is the place where Lord Shiva appeared in the form of light.
